Merry Meet One and All!
We hope you had a wonderful Imbolc. Soon trees will bud, snows will melt, and daylight will tick more minutes off the clock than darkness, as we move towards the Vernal Equinox. As Ostara comes upon us, day and night are equal, poised and balanced, but about to tip over on the side of light. The British Isles are peppered with Megalithic structures, and White Witch spent a wonderful day at 'Long Meg and Her Daughters' a Bronze Age stone circle near Penrith in Cumbria. Legend states that if you walk round the circle and count the number of stones correctly, then put your ear to Long Meg, you will hear her whisper! At the right angle, Long Meg resembles the profile of a witch, and the name is said to come from Meg of Meldon, a local 17th century witch. Such a thrill to tread where people have made offerings for thousands of years! We encourage everyone to ensure their local authority cares for and allows access to these important ancient ritual sites - no matter how small or off the beaten track.
