For the first time, Waltham Abbey Town Partnership participated in the Independent Retailer Month with a competition for the best independent retailer in Waltham Abbey. The winner - Debbie Harding of White Witch, Church Street. Tony O’Connor, Deputy Chairman of WATP, presented Debbie with the winner’s trophy at a business breakfast on September 8th.
Independent Retailer Month is a campaign to highlight and celebrate the important role independent retailers play within the retail sector as a whole. Waltham Abbey Town Partnership decided to join with many of the UK town centres across the country in celebrating and promoting these important local businesses. Retail expert, Clare Rayner of Retail Champion http://www.retailchampion.co.uk is known for her passion and commitment to helping retailers optimise the performance of their business. Clare said "I am delighted to be invited to participate in this exciting campaign and very proud to have been selected as the official UK partner. July 2011 will be an opportunity for everyone with an interest in retailing to celebrate the diversity and creativity that the independents bring to the sector as a whole."
Customers had the opportunity to nominate their favourite business in the town centre by explaining ... 'this business is the Best Independent in Waltham Abbey because...' The winning nomination (in the judges' eyes) won £50 of vouchers.
Debbie said "I am very proud to have won this award. It's wonderful to have a Pagan shop recognised like this. I'd like to thank all my lovely customers for their kind comments in helping White Witch win this award."
